The annual service that keeps the warranty valid: flush, filter, burner, venting, controller and safety checks.
Manufacturers put annual maintenance in the warranty terms for a reason, and in Central Texas they mean it. The service is not complicated — it is a flush, a filter, a burner inspection and a set of readings — but it is the difference between a unit that runs twenty years and one that starts throwing codes at year six.
It also gives you a written record. If you ever do need a heat exchanger claim, that record is what the manufacturer asks for first.

Tell us the house, the fuel, and what is going wrong. Most quotes need five minutes on the phone and a photo of your current heater.
We check gas line size, venting route, electrical capacity and your peak hot water demand, then put a fixed price in writing.
Most changeovers take four to eight hours. Gas line or venting upgrades can add a day. We protect floors and haul the old tank away.
We meet the city inspector, walk you through the controller, and set your first descaling reminder.

For an Austin home on city water with no softener, once a year is the right interval. Round Rock and Georgetown run harder water and are better served at nine to twelve months. Homes with a properly maintained whole-home softener can usually go eighteen months, and we will tell you that rather than selling you a service you do not need.
If your house is on a well east of Austin or out toward Manor, assume six months until we have seen what the water does to the exchanger over a cycle.
If you have isolation valves, yes — a pump, a bucket, two hoses and white vinegar will do the flush. What a homeowner flush misses is the inlet screen, the burner, the combustion readings and the error history, which is where the early warnings live.
Yes. Most manufacturers require documented annual service on the heat exchanger warranty, and in a hard water region they do ask for it when a claim comes in.
About ninety minutes for a single unit with isolation valves. Add an hour if valves have to be fitted first.
Yes, and most of the units we maintain were installed by someone else.
